Vampire Counts Army Showcase

Vampire Counts were always one of my favorite factions from the days of Warhammer Fantasy Battles. And with this large Old World army project, I got to paint a whole lot of them, plus some coo 3D prints.

When I did the 40K Black Templars just before this, it had 90some infantry models and that was considered a large batch. This Old World army has 70 skeletons, 65 zombies and 50 other infantry and cavalry models… talk about a undead horde!

The first batch of Grave Guards are 3D prints. I don’t hate the thicker look of these guys compared to the delicate plastic skeletons. This is one of those ‘it’s not a bug, it’s a feature’ thing where 3d prints are generally thicker not on purpose…

Speaking of tiny delicate skeletons, here’s 70 of them. Twenty or so of them are conversion from Cursed City to make more Grave Guards.

It was fun the paint the Terrorgheist in a classic scheme. Nothing against the pale and green colors of Age of Sigmar’s Flesheater Courts…. It’s just not the same.

I tried to make the two cavalry units easy to tell apart. I think having the Blood Knights’ armor in purple would look cartoonish and out of place in this army. The two heroes, a Wight lord and a Battle Standard Bearer, are a mix of the two looks.

As with most Vampire Counts armies, you need all the supporting cast of odd undead: Banshees, Dire Wolves and Bats

To round out the characters, a Battle Standard Bearer on foot and the two staples of every self respecting Undead army, a Necromancer and the Vampire Count himself.

And to round out this showcase, my favorite piece of the lot, a Mortis Engine. This one is printed, so there are not much details, but the colors make it stand out as the centerpiece it deserves to be (according to me, anyway.)
