Most of what I paint is whole armies, but ever so often I get asked for a one-of unit. These projects are fun because I can de pretty much whatever I want with them.

In this case, the client asked for colors similar to the box, so I kept it pretty close. The horses I did in various shades of dark brown. I find mixing up colors too much on the horses hurts the overall unit look.

But because I know this client’s Astra Militarum is mostly Death Korps of Krieg, I wanted to make sure the Attila Rough Riders fit with their more grimdark feel. The horses come with sculpted bases, so I kept the rest both simple and in the Death Korps aesthetics.
