Ogor Mawtribe Army Showcase

This Ogor Mawtribe army was a fun project to paint. This is mosty to be used for One Page Rules, but there’s enough models in there that it can probably also play Age of Sigmar as well.

The goal for this army was to be mostly down to earth colors, with nothing too bright. More medieval, less fantasy, so to speak. I did end up painting the ogres with glowing red eyes because the blood effects on the weapons was not punchy enough for my taste.

With Age of Sigmar now, it’s not clear if the Stonehorns are still part of the Mawtribes or if they are Beastclaw Raiders. But it’s an ogor riding a giant mammoth… can’t let the rule of cool go by.

My favorite part of the Ogor Mawtribes is the unique characters. They are already big models, but the characters all pack a bunch of extra personality, like my all time favorite, the fire belly.

Another bonus of Age of Sigmar projects is that they usually come with the coolest terrain pieces. This one had two of them, both very unique in their own right.

Every self respecting Ogor Mawtribe collection needs a plethora of Gnoblar. And if you are to get Gnoblars, you should also get the scrap launcher. It launches scrap… I MEAN COME ON!!

This Ogor Mawtribe army also features the ogre-adjacent creatures like Yhetees and Gorgers. The main challenge with these fringe units is to make them fit with the rest of the army. In this case, I used the glowing eyes and the same colors from the mournfang and the stonehorns.

Like most armies, the Mawtribes don’t escape the rank and file infantry. Sure, there’s less of them, but Bulls and Leadbelchers are still at the core of the army.

I like the Mournfang cavalry because it combines a bit of every other unit in the army. In fact, it’s one of the rare cavalry unit I actually like.
