The Siege of Vraks is my favorite piece of 40K lore, so any chance I get to paint models from this campaign, I jump on the occasion.

This army was perhaps the best list at some point in 8th edition. I don’t remember the specifics, but essentially it was a pile of bodies surrounding a Castellan Knight and a buffed up unit of Bullgryns.
I’m not gonna front, the Knight is in this because of the tabletop shenanigans. It does make for a nice centerpiece in the army, as it does not contain any of the big an iconic Imperial Guard tanks, besides some Wyvern artillery and a handful of Sentinels

I love the Wyvern tanks because the exposed crew does allow me to add more renegade guards to it.
Again, the specifics of the infantry I don’t recall exactly, but it was over 50 traiter guard and a bunch of Bullgryns. All of them are built using the Forge World models and upgrade kits.
Another really cool part of Imperial Guard army are the officers and characters. They are often overlooked because they tend to blend in with the hordes of infantry, but you can add a whole lot of easter eggs in them. My favorite is of course the Commissar, that is totally not 3 Nurglings in a trench coat.

The other characters, all pulled from the Renegade Guard’s kits, are not short on personality either.
And of course, every army I build for myself would not be complete without a display board diorama. I had a lot of fun with this one because it’s got a lot of elements to it… For a trench scene, it’s not simply a flat plane.
