Raptor Space Marine Drop Pods

A friend of mine recently needed two drop pods in a hurry to play in an event. It’s not a real tournament if you don’t switch your list at the last possible time, so I helped him out.

The biggest challenge was that the Drop Pods were fully built. If there ever was a kit to sub assembly paint, this is the one. Lucky for me, only one opens up and the inside was left bare. A relic from a time where you could carry Dreadnoughts in Drop Pods.

The rest of this project was mostly adding some battle damage to make the Drop Pods somewhat interesting. I also did the metallic parts with wear and tear so they fit with the green and beige weathering, even in different colors.

Painting models for my friends just before tournaments is how I got started with commission painting way back when, and it’s always a pleasure to revisit this time honored tradition every now and again. Check this page out if you also find yourself spiraling before a tournament and in need of painted models.
