Bayard’s Revenge Showcase

Sometimes I’m asked to paint models that are only for display purposes and not to bang out a whole army in a couple of days. Bayard’s Revenge was one such model.

This model really was a blast to paint, and a fun little break after painting whole armies for the past couple of projects.

Even if this model is purely for display purposes, since the owner also has a Black Templar army, some of the choices are built to accommodate. This is mostly the base’s rocks that’s maybe a bit more simplistic than the rest of the piece, and the armor that is not highlighted in a drastic and crazy way.

The Ork was a very fun part of this piece, and where you can break off from the grimdark and realistic style of the Black Templar. I did keep some of the colors from the Templar same as on the Ork, like the brown belts and the red accents. This helps keep the whole piece cohesive.

The sword was a real blast to paint. Making a weapon called “The Black Blade” look interesting was a fun challenge. I also got to add in some OSL on the model, but in a very delicate and subtle way. I don’t want this detail to take over the entire miniature.

I don’t do these projects nearly enough for how much fun they are. But if you are interested in adding models to your shelves rather than to your carrying cases, hit me up by clicking here.
