Harlequin Blood Bowl Team Showcase

One perk of commission painting is that ever so often, I get to work on a very wide variety of projects, like this custom Harlequin Blood Bowl team.

This team is from Sukubus Studios, and has, as far as I can tell, all the sculpts, and a few other tokens and add-on pieces. They were all painted to match this team’s colors.

The hair color is completely random. I could see color-coding with positions as well, but I really did not plan ahead that part. My original idea was to give them all black hair to get more cohesive scheme (because teams usually have helmets…) but the test model proved a little lackluster and dull.

Along with the hair, the harlequin makeup is also quite random. I did triangles, losanges, tears, stripes, and crosses. Again, you could do this on a position basis, but you can also lean on the harlequin vibe and embrace a little chaos!

I really love the catcher poses. They usually are the most dynamic sculpts, like the toe dragging one or the one calling back for the ball. Very footballesque.

The cheerleaders, because they don’t have the same clothing and equipment, I did in a more classic harlequin scheme of quarters. Unlike the hair, the scheme is reverse on purpose.

The Solitaire is from the Warhammer 40k range of Harlequins, with the gun and sword removed. I painted the rock/monolith thing it’s standing on as one of those end zone pylons from the NFL. I’m not sure it come across too great, but I like it.

Along with the team, there were also a bunch of other random pieces. The token and the ball are clearly Harlequin themed, the rest are just painted to match. The gnome is by far my favorite thing ever, it is an amazing sculpt. The fart-propelled snotling is a close second.
