Space Wolves Army Showcase

Space Wolves are genetically modified Vikings. It’s hard to think of anything more badass. But, you know what else is great about them? They look pretty great.

This army is pretty special, as it is the first one that I painted since relaunching the site in December 2025. I know this is very uninteresting for most of you, but bear with me, it’s special in other ways.

Namely, this is all Space Wolves. None of these generic Space Marine units parading as Space Wolves sometimes. Space Vikings or bust! Starting with the main Viking himself, Logan Grimnar.

I always struggle with the chapter-specific chaplains and librarians… Should they be black like regular chaplain, or stick to our army colors. I opted for the dark grey color on the Wolf Priest, just because the scheme is already dark and because maybe it can be used as a Battle Leader or a Lieutenant or something more easily.

Arjac Rockfist was the test model for this entire army. I thought about repainting the shoulder plates to match with the Wolf Guard Terminators, but black like this makes the model stand out.

Another timeless (get it, ’cause the model is super old) classic of Space Wolves, Bjorn the Fell-handed. The guns are pretty easy to make interchangeable, you just need to cut the back of them a little and they become basically push-fit.

Another staple of Space Wolves: the tactical Blood Claw blob! I’m sure you can field them in a normal amount of models, but why let the templars have all the fun with horde units, right?

The Wolf Guard Headtakers are the quintessential Space Wolves unit: fur-cloaked, dual wielding axes and sword space Vikings roaming the board with their pet Fenrisian wolves.

Another staple Space Wolves character, Ragnar Blackmane. I was very tempted to make him redheaded or blonde just to be different. In the end, I resisted the temptation.

Another great new kit I got to paint is the Space Wolves Kill Team from the Dead Silence box. The mustachio head on the left is the greatest thing since the sassy nurgling or the battle crab.

Njal the Stormcaller is also a sort of new character. It’s not new, but the old version was a non-primaris terminator. I really like this new version of Njal with the huge cyber-raven.

The Iron Priest is the Space Wolves version of a techmarine. Unlike the main Space Marine kind, the Iron Priest is still a small marine. Lucky it looks really good because the diminutive size strips a lot of the coolness factor.

Another blob of infantry, the Wulfen add some more wolf to the Space Wolves! I’m not the biggest fan of these models, but for non-primaris ones, they do fit in nicely with the rest of the army.

The real staple of Space Wolves, in my opinion, is the Thunderwolf Cavalry. Why even have a pet wolf if you can’t ride it? I know it’s not wolf-accurate to mix pelt colors, but then again, these wolves have space travelling Vikings riding them, so realism-shmealism.

My favorite unit to paint beside the characters were the Wolf Guard Terminators. I love terminators to begin with and these are terminators with cooler weapons and Viking accessories… Also, the burgundy plates really pop on them.

To round out the army, some more characters! Two Wolf Guard Battle Leaders, one with a sword and one with a hammer. I really like these, they have all the cool features of Space Wolves, from the angry face to the wolf pelts and the cool weapons.

If you like how this army turned out and would like your to also hit the parade in style, I’d love to take on your project! Click here to make it happen.
