Honestly, I have a hard time telling the Genestealer Cults Patriarch from the Tyranids Broodlord. But in either case, this one looks suitably terrifying.

This model started out because I wanted to try a technique I found on YouTube called the Double Slapchop, by Don Suratos. It was an okay-at-best attempt on the blue, but worked out really well for the pink.

The gist of the technique is to do the Slap Chop thing with a dark color, then drybrush white on top and hit it with a lighter tone of contrast paint. I need more dabbling with it before I can give an informed opinion.

The base was left blank because I did not think about completing the model and did not plan ahead. It was a whole lot of fun to paint, I did in one sitting, and a friend offered to buy it instantly. In the immortal words of Borat: Great success!

There’s something about this old school Genestealer scheme that I really like. I think mine ended up more pink than the classique one that’s more lilac
