This post showcases a full Thousand Sons army painted as a commission: metallic blue armor with gold trims and bright orange accents. The force includes Magnus the Red, Ahriman, and a ton of infantry.

Magnus is the main centerpiece of the army, with huge wings painted with a galaxy effect, and bright orange effects that really pop against the burgundy color of the skin. This burgundy is used throughout the army for the cloaks and robes.
The orange glow is not the default choice for most Thousand Sons army. One reason I like it is that it really clashes with blue and burgundy, making it a great accent color. It also happens to be the owner of the army’s favorite color, so it would’ve been foolish not to include it.
The army also includes Ahriman and a few other Thousand Sons characters, all painted to match the same metallic blue and gold style. They stand out from the army because of the wild cloaks and the fiery bits on them. These supporting the characters are the key to make the army stand out.
The infantry makes up the core of the force. They are all painted to keep the same clean, unified Thousand Sons look. The Tzaangors are different because they would look wacky in metallic, but by keeping all the other colors the same as our Thousand Sons, they still fit in nicely.
The Sorcerer in terminator armor was the test model for the entire army. Scarab Occult Terminators also happen to be my favorite part of the army, with their bulky armor, burgundy details, and glowing orange weapons.

The Mutalith Vortex Beast and the Chaos Spawn are much like the Tzaangors, where they have a very unique look, but share all the colors used across the army to still fit in. The bases and the glow help in that regard. The Vortex Beast was quite fun to paint and the skin color started with a step called “Well this thing I just thought of should work right?”
